HANDLING YOUR ONLINE STORE
HANDLING YOUR ONLINE STORE
Congratulations!! You have opened your online store for your side line source of income. Are you having trouble reaching your target audience. Try not to stress yourself. I got you covered.
With an online store comes a lot of responsibilities, invoices, follow-ups etcetera. These are some of the things you will have to consider. Here are some of the things to keep in mind when opening an online store:
1. Do your homework:
Before getting into the world of e-commerce, make sure you have done your homework about your niche, your product and your competition. Study your competition and know what is it they are doing that you can probably do differently. Maybe get a product that is new in e-commerce. If your product already exists in the e-commerce world, try to put a unique element to it to make it stand out from the rest.
2. Get your thinking cap on:
Sure its nice to have a creative store name but along with that keep in mind not to get too carried away. If you have already done your homework, you will notice that your competition have plugged in their niche/product in their store name itself. Put your thinking cap on and plugin adjectives that would direct a person to think of the word shoes when reading your store name like the word 'steps'. Do not make the mistake of naming your store something that does not hint on what it is selling. Get to creating your logo.
3. Cloak of confidence:
Now that you have done your homework, and created a perfect name for your store you can wear your cloak of confidence and start your store. Sure you may not have a direct conversation with the buyer but you will have to be answerable for any sort of doubts regarding your products. Your confidence will let the buyer know that they are taken seriously.
4. Reasonable rates:
Do a thorough check of your product to make sure it does not have anything faulty before putting it up for sale. You wouldn't want to deal with a complaining consumer. If you had ordered on a bulk to get disposed for sale but not happy with what you got, your only option here is to sell your product at a lower per unit price. Selling at a lower price will not always leave you in a loss so you wont have to worry so mach about it. The bright side here is your profit or loss is determined on how fast you sell out.
5. Acknowledgement:
One mistake that many online store owners make is after their sale, they assume that their job is done. Truth is, your job is only done "successfully" is when you get an acknowledgement from your customer about the product. A happy customer = returning customer. Goodwill for your store is very important in the sense that, your customer will spread a positive word about your store to their known ones giving you chances to gain more customers.
6. Feedback:
Never take a customer feedback as an insult. All your customer is trying to do is help you improve the services you provide for your upcoming customers. Try to maintain your calm when replying to a feedback assuring your customer that you are willing to provide the best you can for them and that there is always room for improvement. This also assures your customers that they can have a say about your store and that you are all ears to their feedbacks.
7. Customer Updates:
Maintain a good relationship with your customers by providing them updates on any new service or products that you provide as you grow store giving them the indication that they have many to choose from at your store. If you notice with offline stores, advertisements and banners help them attract customers but since you own an online store or should I say e-commerce business an online advertisement through any social media platform is how you can attract your customers. Seasonal giveaways, promotions and discounts is a good way to retain your customers.
