Struggles Of Almost Every Student
Life Of A Student...
Education, one of the most important piece of knowledge parents, family, teachers and society can give to a young one.
Being a student is one of the most important but also most confusing phases in the life of a child. It is those days when the parents want to treasure and document every year and progress of the child. Be it taking pictures of their first day to school, school play or dance.
Being a student is one of the most important but also most confusing phases in the life of a child. It is those days when the parents want to treasure and document every year and progress of the child. Be it taking pictures of their first day to school, school play or dance.
However, there are a few struggles that almost every student face in their life and surprisingly these are things they usually 'Sense' than 'Express'. Below are some of those pointers I personally have felt as a student or noticed my friends going through it during my earlier years.
When unable to understand something that is being taught in class, a student usually hesitates to ask the teacher about their doubt or to explain again with the fear that the teacher may get angry/annoyed. But more importantly, they are worried that they may leave the impression of being a 'dumb/slow grasper'. Being afraid to ask the teacher to re explain because they are confused makes a student very very vulnerable.
With board exams round the corner, they are loaded with so much information in school to the point where they don't care anymore, then they are given assignments/projects plus homework. To top it off, they have a test coming up!
1.CONFUSION:

But more importantly, they are worried that they may leave the impression of being a 'dumb/slow grasper'. Being afraid to ask the teacher to re explain because they are confused makes a student very very vulnerable.
"There is no elevator to SUCCESS, you have to take the stairs".
2. STRESS:
Life of a student can be stressful to be honest, especially when they are between the grades 7-10. They live a consistent routine and have no time for themselves or even any extra curricular activity. With board exams round the corner, they are loaded with so much information in school to the point where they don't care anymore, then they are given assignments/projects plus homework. To top it off, they have a test coming up!
Don't STRESS, do your BEST and forget the REST.
3. PRESSURE:
With so much competition in academics, students get pressurized in trying to get to the top of every chart possible whether it's academics/sports. The pressure of having to do well in school is very common. What parents don't know is that they are also competing in the classroom to be the best.
Not being able to do well makes a student feel like they are letting their parents as well as family down.
Parents can help by criticizing less and helping the child to get back on his/her feet by boosting their confidence and telling them that they can do better in their next test/exam.
"The STRUGGLE you are in today is developing the STRENGTH you need tomorrow".
4. INSECURITY:
Insecurity in a students life usually happens when puberty hits them. They tend to doubt themselves when it comes to marks, looks, body size, sense of humour, colour etcetera. Sometimes, they can be judged solely for popularity within the school premises. This makes a student loose their self-esteem and confidence resulting in less concentration in class and more energy wasted as to why they are imperfect.
Sometimes our thoughts are backed with so much insecurity, that they create lies we believe!!
5. PEER-PRESSURE:
Peer pressure or what I like to call 'groupism' is when a student is involved in a group with his/her friends. As adults, this sounds very normal and healthy right? Have you ever thought what it feels like as a student?
Now, as a student this is when someone is trying to FIT IN. Groupism can have an adverse effect in the behaviour of a student, be it good or bad. Ever thought where that accent or language came from when you never speak that way at home? This comes from groupism. This is a sign of what kind of group your child is associating himself/herself in.
The so called groupism also plays a big role in a student's life when it comes to decision making for future education and career choices.
"When you say YES to others, make sure you're not saying NO to yourself".
6. BULLYING:
Groupism is what leads to bullying. If a student is a loner in school or has no friend circle, they are vulnerable to being victims of bullying.
Even if the school in which your child is studying strongly supports 'anti-bullying', unknowingly it still exists.
To those being bullied, STAND UP for YOURSELF and STOP hate.
" I allowed myself to be bullied because I was scared and didn't know how to defend myself. I was bullied until I prevented a new student from being bullied. By standing up for him, I learned to stand up for myself" - Jackie Chan.
From someone who has lived the student life, I'd like to end this blog by saying, "Strive for progress, not perfection".
