CURFEWS LIFTED, NOW WHAT?
CURFEW AND LOCKDOWNS HAVE BEEN LIFTED, NOW WHAT?
I'm sure being safe is what you want for yourself and your family, but you are unsure as to how you can do that in this pandemic; especially after the lockdown being relaxed. You know that you will have to live with the new normal but what really is the new normal now?
There are a couple of things for you to remember while adjusting to the new normal.
1. Lockdown Relaxed Is Not Equal To Safe:
Just because lockdowns/curfews have been relaxed it does not mean that it is safe to be outside. It is important to understand that lockdowns have been relaxed to allow businesses to run back to normal and regain their customers. The virus will still be around depending on the rules set by the government in the country you are living in. Your new normal now is to social distance yourself from others and wear a face mask to stop the transmission of liquid particles from entering your nose and mouth and also keep individuals in your surroundings safe in case you cough or sneeze.
2. Disposable to Cloth:
Instead of ruining the environment by dumping disposable face masks as it contains a couple of layers of plastic, it is a better option to shift to cloth masks. It is better for the environment as well as our financial savings. A cloth mask can be washed with a disinfectant after every use or every couple of uses making it safe for the next use.
Wearing a cloth mask prevents us from touching out mouth and nose which is very important during a pandemic. In case you sneeze or cough, your cloth mask doubles the security of others from the droplets that comes out of your mouth.
Top tip: Carry and extra pair of mask and gloves in your purse.
3. Sanitizer will be your new best friend:
Keep a travel friendly hand sanitizer clipped onto your purse/bag, whatever you are carrying when you are going out. Whether you decide to go out alone or with your kids, you will have to carry a small travel sized hand sanitizer. You can add a bottle of hand sanitizer in your vehicle too to use after you switch off your engine as well as after your stroll to the market.
Top tip: Sanitize your keys and cellphone after you get back as it usually the dirtiest thing you are carrying in your purse.
4. Only if necessary:
Keep in mind that the virus has not disappeared yet and there is no vaccine released yet, so limit yourself from going out. Don't be like one of those who decide to go out just because it has been a long time because you going out is just as equal to you putting yourself in risk of getting the virus. Leave your home only if you need to get some groceries, if you have a doctor's appointment, if you need to buy something from the chemist or if you need to buy an outfit for an occasion. Try to make it quick though! Go with an agenda in mind so that you know what to grab the store and come back instead of wasting time taking rounds in the store.
Top top: Use the washroom before you leave home to avoid using public washrooms.
5. It's safest to be home:
By now lots of relatives are calling you and inviting you to visit them, which is understandable. You can visit them, no harm but social distance yourself because you never know who visited them prior to you. A verbal 'hello' will become your new normal now whenever you visit your loved ones until situations calm down. Try not to give hugs and kisses which I know will be hard but is also safe for the both of you.
