ALL LIVES MATTER
ALL LIVES MATTER
Racism is all over the world, it's just that we are too blind to see it, too deaf to hear it or just too ignorant to address it.
- BLACK LIVES MATTER
The African-American race have been fighting for their equal rights for far too long. They have been subject to slavery, prostitution, robbery etc. They are the number one victims of colorism and police brutality. If there was a robbery at your society in which out of 10 houses, 1 belonged to an African-American family, you may say that all of them could be held responsible but somewhere in your head, you are convinced that that particular household might have more chances in this burglary. African-American's are always subject to "suspicion" and that's just sad.
If the Floyd incident wasn't caught on camera, there wouldn't have been such a movement where finally after years and years of fighting, both the races are uniting for justice. How come you ask? Because this time it's an officer who showed no mercy to the man and knelt on him despite him telling the officer that he couldn't breath TWICE! If only the officer did his job of arresting Mr. Floyd for using a $20 counterfeit bill and leaving the rest to for the court to decide, this whole issue wouldn't have come up. The case of Mr. George Floyd wasn't the first subject to police brutality and colorism. In fact, the police department have a history of about 400 cases of racism. This gave the African-American community a chance to actually show the common man not only in the U.S but all over the world that yes they are being racially profiled.
The Black community were oppressed for way too long now. Racism is just evil. Think about it, African's are widely known as "Black", almost all over the world! They are made fun of, being stared at and just treated differently.
We all should unite together to fight against colorism and police brutality and bring justice not only for Floyd's family but all the other families who lost a loved one due to the same.
It's ironic how people idolize public figures like Rihanna, Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama, Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant and many many more and yet can't see that racism exists. If they do acknowledge it, it's sad that they don't speak up about it.
With that I would like to quote George Floyd's brother, "Peace on the right, Justice on the left."

- SAVE THE GIRL CHILD:
Sadly in some parts of the world, the life of a girl is not taken as seriously and is not looked with pride. People look at a girl child as a burden and therefore, is not given the rights as that given to a boy.
Time and time again, a girl child/young lady always has to prove to her family that she belongs on this world and can make wonders happen and that she has equal rights and freedom as that of a boy. In many countries, the gender of the baby is not revealed to the family after studies showed that most of the aborted or abandoned babies were of the female gender.
Girls are usually looked as the gender who belong in the kitchen and not bread earners of the family. They are also seen as a burden as they worry about the cost of their marriage. A more qualified groom equals to more cash and gold expenditure for marriage in some societies. Girls are not seen as the family name carriers.
Girls struggle for their rights globally, like the right to education. In many countries countries girls have access to only basic education. They are not allowed to go for college or even worse, they are made to drop out of school once she starts menstruating leave them uneducated in comparison to boys. This makes her a victim of child marriage.
Women experience an inequality in employment even in well developed countries as compared to men. They also have lower pay than men.
1 in 3 women in developing countries are subject to physical abuse, domestic abuse and even something as simple as sanitary hygiene. Women are looked down on and are not given much support to speak up. She isn't given a chance to have her own opinion.
Although there are many successful women in this world, they are not afforded the opportunity to succeed. They are just looked as the gender who belong in the kitchen.
It's funny how men watch successful women on TV or other platforms and wish their daughters did the same and yet aren't given that chance to pursue her dreams. If ever she was encouraged, it is the father who is questioned in the society which is usually extra pressure for the girl, to see her father being mocked in public.
Luckily the numbers are changing and women are given a little more rights. Some successful who beat all odds in different areas of influence are: Malala Yousafzai (women's rights)), Oprah Winfrey (entertainment & activism), Michelle Obama (politics), Huda Kattan (entrepreneur), J.K Rowling (author), Christiane Amanpor (journalist), Serena Williams (sports), Lilly Singh (social media & entrepreneur), Priyanka Chopra Jonas (actress & entrepreneur), Kalpana Chawla (astronaut) and many more.
It's time we start treating women equally as men and allow them to pursue their dreams and passion.
